Job Title:  Online Literacy Tutor

Position Type:  Independent Contractor

Position Description:  Seeking experienced reading tutors certified in Orton-Gillingham or another structured literacy method.

Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching reading using the Orton-Gillingham approach or another structured literacy method.  Certification preferred.
  • Skilled in building rapport and supportive relationships with students and families
  • Experience planning individualized instruction and learning goals
  • Skilled at planning creative, engaging and purposeful lessons
  • Experience teaching or tutoring online 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one tutoring to online students
  • Build positive rapport with your students, build on their successes, and help them build confidence as well as new skills
  • Available to teach long term through at least the 24/25 school year
  • Available at least 6 hours a week minimum, during after school hours M-F of 2:30-6:30 Pacific Time AND/OR 7:00-7:30 a.m. M-F Pacific Time
  • Must be timely, reliable and consistent attending scheduled lessons
  • Must provide reliable equipment for online teaching, including strong wifi connection during lessons

Details & Pay:

  • Most students meet with tutors 2 x week for the duration of the school year, with summers being more flexible and less hours
  • We use a tuition model, so our lessons and pay are very consistent. Please inquire for pay range.
  • Independent Contractors are connected with students through BWL LLC
  • BWL LLC will handle all billing & administrative duties 
  • Scheduling through Tutorbird is provide
